Android BSP Developer

Location: Warsaw, Poland (hybrid, with business trips to the client's office)
Rate: up to 140 PLN/hour (B2B)

We are looking for an experienced Android BSP (Board Support Package) Developer to join our client's engineering team. In this role, you will be responsible for developing, customizing, and maintaining Android BSP solutions for custom hardware platforms.

If you have hands-on experience with AOSP, Linux Kernel, low-level software development, and embedded systems, we'd love to hear from you.

Responsibilities

  • Perform board bring-up for new custom hardware, including bootloader initialization and low-level firmware configuration.
  • Customize the Linux Kernel and develop or port device drivers for hardware peripherals such as:
    • Wi-Fi
    • Bluetooth
    • Displays
    • Touchscreens
    • Cameras
    • Sensors
  • Develop and maintain the Android Hardware Abstraction Layer (HAL), enabling seamless communication between Android framework APIs and hardware components.
  • Build and configure Android Open Source Project (AOSP) and generate system images, including boot.img, vendor.img, and system.img.
  • Debug and troubleshoot low-level system and hardware integration issues.
  • Execute and support Google Mobile Services (GMS) certification processes, including CTS, GTS, and VTS testing.
  • Collaborate closely with hardware and software engineering teams to integrate and optimize new platform features.

Requirements

  • Commercial experience as an Android BSP Developer or Embedded Linux Developer.
  • Strong programming skills in C and C ; knowledge of Java is a plus.
  • Expert knowledge of Linux, including:
    • Linux Kernel internals
    • Device Trees
    • Memory management
    • Embedded Linux architecture
  • Hands-on experience with Android Open Source Project (AOSP).
  • Practical knowledge of the Android Build System, including commands such as lunch and m.
  • Experience with Git and Gerrit.
  • Proficiency with low-level debugging tools such as JTAG, gdb, adb, and fastboot.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills in hardware/software integration.
  • Good communication skills in English.
